Suspiria follows Suzy Bannion (played by Jessica Harper), an American ballet student who travels to Germany to attend a prestigious dance academy, the Tanz Dance Academy, in Freiburg. Upon her arrival, Suzy begins to experience unsettling and supernatural events at the school. She soon learns that the academy is hiding dark secrets.

After witnessing the violent murder of another student and encountering disturbing occurrences, Suzy discovers that the academy is actually a front for a coven of witches. The witches are led by the sinister Helena Markos (played by Alida Valli), a powerful witch who practices dark magic and has sinister plans.

As Suzy delves deeper into the mysteries of the academy, she uncovers a horrifying truth about the school's history and the true nature of its inhabitants. The film’s climax is marked by a series of grisly and supernatural events that reveal the full extent of the witches' power.
