Gladiator là cuốn phim Mỹ năm 2000 do David Franzoni, John Logan, và William Nicholson viết, và Ridley Scott đạo diễn.
Russell Crowe thủ vai chính, Maximus Decimus Meridius, tướng La Mã của tỉnh Hispania thuộc đế quốc La Mã (nay là vùng Tây Ban Nha và Bồ Đào Nha). Maximus Decimus Meridius là nhân vật tưởng tượng, không có thật trong lịch sử. Maximus bị Lucius Aurelius Commodus – Đồng Đại đế La Mã cùng với cha là Đại đế Marcus Aurelius – phản bội, giết vua cha, để chiếm ngai vàng một mình. (Sự thật lịch sử là Lucius Aurelius Commodus là Đồng đại đế cùng cha, và thành Đại đế một mình khi cha qua đời, và sau đó Commodus trở thành rất độc tài. Nhưng lịch sử không nói đến Commodus giết cha).
Tướng Maximus Decimus Meridius bị bắt làm nô lệ, vợ con bị Commodus giết, và Maximus được dùng như dũng sĩ giác đấu (gladiator) trong đấu trường để thiên hạ mua vui. Maximus nổi tiếng qua những trận thắng trong đấu trường, và cuối cùng tổ chức các dũng sĩ giác đấu chống lại, giết Commodus, trả thù cho Đại đế Marcus Aurelius và gia đình của Maximus. Nhưng Maximus cũng tử trận. (Trong lịch sử Commodus bị các kẻ thù chính trị ám sát năm 192 sau công nguyên).
Phim Gladiator được 5 giải Oscar, kể cả giải Phim Hay Nhất (Best Picture) và Nam diễn viên hay nhất (Best actor) cho Russell Crowe. Người ta cho rằng phim Gladiator đã làm giới điện ảnh quay lại với văn minh cổ đại của Hy Lạp và La Mã, điển hình là chuỗi TV shows Rome ở Mỹ sau đó.
